Notice on Recruitment of Confucius China Study Fellows

The Confucius Institute Headquarters has officially initiated the recruitment of Confucius China Study fellows for academic year 2017-18.

I. Introduction

The Program fellows are divided into two categories:

  • Joint Research PhD Fellowship: applicable to non-Chinese-citizenship PhD candidates in foreign universities who are supposed to come to China for 6 months to 2 years for study, research and writing of their doctoral dissertations. Applicants’ Chinese proficiency shall reach HSK Test Score Level 3.

  • PhD in China Fellowship: applicable to non-Chinese-citizenship students who are supposed to pursue full-time Ph.D. degrees in the humanities and social sciences at Chinese universities for 3 to 4 years. Applicants’ Chinese proficiency shall reach HSK Test Score level 5.

II. Funding

Lodging and living stipend: 80,000 RMB per year

 •Research fund: 20,000 RMB per year

 •Round-trip international airfare


 •Other support provided by the host Chinese university

 •Expenses for the foreign supervisor’s visit or research in China

 •Expenses for life and medical insurances in China

 •Group activities and cultural experience

Please notice that the application system will be closed at Beijing Time 23:59, Feb. 15, 2017. The Confucius China Studies Program Expert Committee will review the application materials and conduct video interview.
