Thursday, February 4, was the fourth day of activities of the Chinese New Year week organized by the Hauts-de-France regional council and co-organized by the Confucius Institute of Artois and the University of Artois. Due to the health situation in France, unlike other years, Chinese New Year week was held entirely online.

This Thursday, several events were scheduled. First, at 12 p.m., a live “Visit Hauts-de-France” broadcasted live on Facebook to the participants a video tour of two historic places in the region. From 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., a live visit of the Notre-Dame d’Amiens Cathedral, hosted by Emilie Messiaen, animator of the Amiens Métropole Heritage. Then at 1 p.m., a live tour of the Domaine de Chantilly, hosted by Mathieu Deldicque, heritage curator at the Domaine de Chantilly. The entire event was organized by the Hauts-de-France Regional Tourism and Congress Committee, the Amiens Métropole Tourism Office, and the Domaine de Chantilly. This Facebook live ended at 2 p.m.

Second, at 6 p.m., the regional council organized the screening of a documentary titled Les oubliés chinois de la grande guerre, directed by Régis Prévot. This documentary traces the story of some 140,000 Chineses who landed in France in 1917 to help with the war effort. In this documentary, director Régis Prévot investigates Sino-French historians and descendants who are fighting for the recognition of the status of these forgotten workers. The screening was followed by a debate in the presence of the director and historian Li Ma, a specialist on the subject, around a dialogue on China and the duty of remembering. The screening of this documentary was organized in partnership with the University of Littoral Côte d´Opale and the Association “Amitiés et Coopération entre les Hauts-de-France et la Chine”. The event closed at 8 p.m.
